Submission Guidelines

Please note that we do not accept submissions from outside of the UK, and will not respond if these are submitted.

We are one of the few publishers in Britain who still accepts unsolicited manuscripts. We would like to keep it that way – but we need your help.

Please remember, before sending us your submission, that we only publish literary fiction and a few non-fiction titles with a strong literary or historical connotation. Please do not submit novellas, short stories, children's books, poetry, academic works, science fiction, horror, fantasy or other genres that do not fit in with our programme. We encourage you to study carefully our list, if you have the chance, to get a better idea of what we publish.

We only accept submissions by post. Please do not send submissions by email, or they will be automatically rejected. If you are submitting by post, include a synopsis, two sample chapters and, if you would like your material to be returned in case of rejection, a stamped SAE (make sure you include full postage). Please allow up to six weeks for a reply.
